Aquabatix were swimming in the sky at the iconic sky pool in London recently, for the Embassy Gardens sunset sessions, to celebrate the one year anniversary of the pool launching.
The sky pool is the world’s largest single piece of load-bearing acrylic. suspended 35 metres above the ground, between two apartments. With views across Nine Elms, including the new American Embassy and across London, you can pretend you are swimming in the sky.
Ballymore and Embassy Gardens first approached Aquabatix to create an eye capturing performance back in 2021 for the launch of the pool. However due to Covid this got postponed until this year, where they threw an event to celebrate one year, with an evening of entertainment for the residents and the local community to enjoy.
Due to the pool being viewed from below, the side and from above with a drone and residents in higher apartments, Aquabatix had to create routines that would be visually effective 360 degrees.
With kaleidoscope formations, acrobatic lifts and exciting choreographed moves with legs and arms, the Aquabatix synchronised swimming team wowed the crowds from the sky.
To add more visual shapes and movements to the sky performance, Aquabatix also created a choreographed routine with a mermaid and merman. With elegant silhouettes, the merpeople moved and entwined gracefully throughout the water in the sky, accompanied by music played live by Groove Armada.
Many of the crowd captured the performances and posted to their social media accounts. Click here to watch a montage of swimming in the sky. A spokesperson for Embassy Gardens said “The was epic” and thanked Aquabatix for “their fantastic synchronised swimming”. To watch a montage of the performance, click here.
