Rob Brydon plays Eric, a full blown mid life crisis accountant, who joins a male synchronised swimming team, discovering that making patterns in a pool can smooth out the bumps in his work and marriage.
The ramshackle squad, including BAFTA winner Adeel Akhtar, Downton’s Jim Carter, Sherlock’s Rupert Graves, Born To Kill Daniel Mays, This Is England’s Thomas Turgoose along with coach Charlotte Riley (Wuthering Height), slowly learn to reveal their inner lives. But can they get their lives and routines in sync as they embark on an unlikely journey to Milan as they compete in the World Championships?
Aquabatix consulted on the film and coached the actors, who perform all their own synchronised swimming. Synchronised swimmers Chris Jepson and Ronan Daly also feature heavily in the film as part of the team.
This film has already created a buzz with the cast performing a specially choreographed routine for BBC One’s Sport Relief in March.
