Gender neutral synchronised swimming:

Aquabatix feature in American singer-songwriter John Grant’s latest music video for his track ‘Down Here‘. The film tackles gender identity following a young man’s dream to become a synchronised swimmer set in 1970’s Britain.

The video stars dancer Fraser Buchanan, who Aquabatix taught to do some synchro moves, as well as Aquabatix male synchronised swimmer Connor Hill. Some of our female synchronised swimmers also appear in this ground breaking music promo. Fraser sees the synchronised swimmers training at the pool which inspires their love of dance and to get in the water and try. Whilst the team are training he walks onto poolside in a swimsuit and gets in, unbeknown to them at the time that it isn’t just a team of female synchroniser swimmers. Whilst he is trying to copy the moves, Connor moves towards him and the pair literally link up in the water.

The video was directed by the talented Lisa Gunning who also worked on ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ and ‘Nowhere Boy’ and is produced by Good Egg Productions.
