Raisa Gorbachev Foundation Gala
Aquabatix performed for the former Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev and his guests at the 2009 Raisa Gorbachev Foundation Charity Gala in Hampton Court on Saturday 6 June.
The 11 synchronised swimmers wore striking red costumes and flowery caps and performed several spectacular routines choreographed specifically for this event to a selection of music by the Russian composer Shostakovich. The guests including, JK Rowling, Vanessa Redgrave, Sarah Brown and Peter Kaye gathered around the natural pond and cheered the athletes on during their performance. The Aquabatix show was so popular that the Daily Mail and Hello magazine mentioned the performance in their articles on the occasion. The event raised £1.5 million which is split between the Raisa Gorbachev Foundation and Marie Curie Cancer Care.
